FAQs
Q. What kind of church is this?
A. Calvary Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, however, our people are from multi and non-denominational backgrounds.
Q. Why do we stand to sing?
A. “...We will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us...then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korathites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.” (2 Chronicles 20:9,19)
Q. Why do we lift our hands?
A. “I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.” (Psalm 63:4) “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.” (Psalm 134:2)
Q. Why do we allow the gifts of the Spirit to operate within the church?
A. The gifts were given by the Holy Spirit to operate within the Church body for the purpose of edification. “I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification...Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel...How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for the edification.” (1 Corinthians 14:5,12,26)
Q. Why do we have audible praise unto God?
A. “Shout with joy to God...” (Psalm 66:1) “...Let us shout aloud to the Rock of our Salvation.” (Psalm 95:1) “Shout for the joy of the Lord...Shout for joy before the Lord, the King.” (Psalm 98:4,6)

Q. What should I wear?
A. Because all people are different and not everyone is comfortable coming to church dressed formally, we promote a “come as you’re comfortable” policy. Whether you wear a suit or dress, or jeans and a T-shirt you’re welcome just as you are.
Q. How long will the service last?
A. Our Sunday morning service typically lasts about an hour and thirty minutes.
Q. Is there something for my kids?
A. All of our services have nursery and childcare available for your little ones and safe, exciting ministries for your bigger ones. Check out our children's program page and youth program page for more information.
